I dropped my face down and ran my nose along hers, “You scared me.” I breathed against her lips, then closed the small space between our mouths and kissed her. I gave her everything I had, all the emotions that had been coursing through me since she had received that damn letter.

Before I even had a chance to open my mouth, he’d closed the distance between us wrapping his large hand around my mouth to smother my cry for help. A sharp stinging sensation pricked my neck, then my body began to fail me. I was trying to fight back, but my body wouldn’t obey. Tears slid from my eyes as the world faded to black around me.

My eyes almost rolled back in my head with pleasure. Not only had I scored a smokin’ hot librarian, but she was a dirty girl too. F- yes, I was definitely going to marry this woman. “You’re f--king perfect, Ash.”

As soon as I had her in my arms I knew I never wanted to let her go. Screw friendship. I wanted her in every way possible. Dropping my face into the curve of her neck I inhaled her sweet scent deep into my lungs. “God, I’ve missed you.”

He lifted his face skywards, “Thanks, Big Man,” he murmured. I scrunched my nose, “Did you just thank God?” I asked. Looking at me he grinned, “Hell yes I did. I knew I needed divine intervention to convince you to give me a chance. I’ve been praying all afternoon.”

My mother says I shouldn’t let one experience ruin me. That I’m too young to have shut out the very prospect of love. But I don’t see it that way. I did let love in once, and it nearly destroyed me. Literally. I was in the hospital for a month. The days that followed my release were the darkest days I’ve ever experienced.
