it all came togther, but slapdash and very 'national treasure'-ish... if this is indicative of the series and author, i'm unlikely to try other titles.

a shell game of shell companies (but not shell gas, registered, trademarked, copyrighted, reserved) AND diplomatic immunity for the baddies - who'd have thunk it? more yucky sex, er, i mean, sweaty tit (natch) -for-tat transactional lovemaking - takin' care of business, for business. the ancient aztec flashbacks are increasingly disjointed from, jarring to the present-day story.

this week's episode is 'a multipart meandering little ditty 'bout david & pilar / two american kids treasure hunting in the southwest aztec land.' and shady mexican familias... and zzzz *snort* huh? wha? oh, sorry. *wipes away drool*... it's slow y'all, it's slow. which is sad because it's aztec treasure and could be interesting.

gold! there's gold in them there hills! so we've got a boilerplate southwest US treasure hunt, featuring native americans, a poor-man's robert langdon, and a cast of characters both boring and unsavory. all with back stories that require a full stop, then detailed explainations, before we can actually get back to the real story. so, dirty cops, or clandestine natives, or government interference, or all the above?

so much back story... david and peter and jake and nick and maria and marko and he said and she did and here's his whole genealogical backstory since cain and abel and here's her whole personnel file and hopes and fears and dreams and and and... just get to it. i'm already 4 chapters and 60+ pages in, and there is very little going on.
