farron leaned back, watching him with those uncanny eyes. “i’m not your enemy,” he said. “i don’t have to be a friend; in fact, you’re wise to keep in mind that i’m nobody’s friend. but i’m not your enemy. not here, now, in this time and place.”

i love farron easter, crazy and overpowered and cocky and insanity/wisdom running hand in hand. no one is surprised.

despite himself, gabriel smiled. what isobel could do, what the magician was, all that was beyond him. but this—charming people into conversation—he could manage.

i am so fond of these two/three misfits.

“the knife in her hand was small, with a wicked curve that slid through flesh easily, and her movements remind izzy of ree’s, that same casual comfort dismembering things.

she was a rider, izzy thought.”

yes good give me more excellent women (and give them more actual space and time, plz).

“whatever coiled in him, violence or sorrow, he didn’t care to share it, and she’d respect that.”

izzy is so much older than gabriel thinks she is but also exactly as young as he expects and that’s kind of delightful. way to have facets, little dagger in training.

her face in the mirror didn’t seem quite hers anymore. she made a face, mouth drawn down, eyes wide, like a frog, to see if that helped. it didn’t.

i love izzy unconditionally tbh.

“we each have two hands, each of equal strength and dexterity. each with things it does well, better than the other. all this time, you’ve seen the day to day business, the gathering-in and the granting, the bargaining and the dealing, the work of my right hand. did you never think beyond that, isobel? did you never wonder what the other hand held?”

FINALLY.
