The opening chapters are in need of serious polishing. I do not blame the author, as his premise and understanding of the history are excellent. I blame the editor for not catching some more glaring problems with prose and textual errors. It is particularly grating to see the use of the word "okay" in a period text. A good editor would point out these errors.
