It's been 25 years since I read this, so I don't remember *anything* but it was highly recommended to me by my English teacher in high school. Have considered re-reading it. Looking forward to your thoughts!

This book, was the first that gave me a perspective of strong women. This book, though fiction, challenged me more than I had been challenged before, to examine my own ideas of feminine independence vs. feminine dependence on the masculine. This book "whispered" to me for a very long time after I read it.
