This is a beautifully written story that was difficult to read due to the subject matter—the genocide that occurred in the late 1970’s when the Khmer Rouge took over Cambodia. The book is based on the author’s real life experience at 5 years old. I appreciated the history, but was saddened by the descriptions of the many tragedies. 8.5/10
