So, I’ve always heard that the Fathers thought of Mark as the “lesser Matthew.” Has that come across in the ACCS volume? (I’m a big proponent of reading Mark as the first Gospel, and that it is far deeper and more complex than most commentators give it credit.)

Well, I can't quite answer that since I'm reading the New Testament "backward" and have not read the commentary on Matthew yet. ...I can at least say that of course it is of great value, otherwise it would not be included in the canon. It also is a difficult question because what I am focusing on as I read the commentaries is all the alignments and similarities. :) ...I'm also seeing that a good one that I hope to read very soon, since it has portions in these commentaries, is Augustine's book- Harmony of the Gospels, which focuses on the similarities and the differences in each.
