I am having a hard time following, but the count is having a conversation with his new perisian friends about how he is moving in and, though they don't know it, tracking down danglers and Mercedes.

So far, Dantes has helped his allies, caderousse(saving him from poverty) and morrell (giving his daughter a dowry and saving his business). Now then he has begun to penetrate Parisian society, I am predicting he will somehow punish the now rich business man danglers. It seems that besides getting revenge, Dantes is not truly happy

So far in the story, after Dantes has started disguising himself I have had trouble following the plot. Now it has become clearer that he is slowly but surely going around and rewarding those who were on his side, and punishing those who sent him to jail. I had previously not realized some of his disguises, and thought the story had changed characters yet again.

Now that the count is beginning to make connections with the high class society of France again, he is becoming not only rich but powerful, and Albert is talking about danglers (very rich now) so I predict that the count will go after him and the other men responsible of putting him in jail.

The story makes a lot more sense now that I realize simbad the sailor is Dantes. He appears to be living a wealthy life now, obviously with the help if his treasure. Dantes seems to almost wanting to haunt Franz, for Franz keeps on seeing him in different places. Since his many years in prison made him pale, some thinks he is a vampire.

I think I just figured it out! "Simbad the sailor", the wealthy count of monte cristo in this other story IS Dantes! I totally missed that but it makes so much sense now. I am still trying to figure out these new set of characters, but right now they are in Rome as tourists.

The other plot line is continuing, but its a little confusing because its just a very long fairy tale being told at the moment about two young lovers. Hopefully it will come back to Dantes soon

This book is really turning out to be very interesting, because after about 300 pages of one plot line centered around dantes, it is now a totally different plot line, though still involving the island of monte cristo. Now, the main character is a man named franz, who seems to be a diplomat of some sort because he is traveling by sea in disguise

I am a little confused about what is happening, but the general gist of it I think is just catching up on what has been happening for the past 15 years while Dantes has been in jail. There is some man who knew abbé Faria that is tricking people for their information on Dantes' family and friends.... Most believe he is dead

So, I am kind of confused about where the book is going, because after Dantes had learned about a treasure on monte cristo during his time in jail, it seemed like that was what the book was going to be about. But he just found it, so I don't know what's gonna happen next. Maybe he will hunt down the three men who incarcerated him for 14 years?
