Still a light, enjoyable read. A holiday sort of book. But, I won’t lie, a third in and the story is sort of crawling along.

It’s not a struggle to read, but it hasn’t exactly pulled me in, hook, line and sinker.

I find period fiction difficult sometimes, as I find the dialogue (inner and direct) stilted and focused on manners and impropriety in equal measures. I’d rather it just got to the point, even though I understand that it’s creating an atmosphere and being true to the time.
