Yoshi Don't test me, okay? I may need to reread the book for the 12th time!

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

LOL. And that would be such a hardship for you?

message 4: by Yoshi (new)

Yoshi Oh.... of course not! I can imagine myself still reading the book 30 years from now on.....

Yoshi The Substitute

I just loved it no matter what....

It's that last sequel that's only available in paper I think. You will writhe and scream at the murder of the English language and grammar. If you read it, I'm watching.

Yoshi I don't think it's for everyone. There's physical abuse, rape, cheating...... and definitely a huge train wreck. Unfortunately, it's only available in paperback/hardcover now. Of course, I have the book in hardcover although I have the ebook format. :-)
Yes, you can read the sample on lulu. But, there's another book set in a parallel universe Into the Lion's Den. It's available in ebook format. You can read it as a stand alone.

Yoshi Kate, the first book is only available in paperback now.
English is not my mother tongue, so I don't care about the language and grammar. :-)

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Why did she stop making the ebook available, Yoshi? Do you know?

message 10: by Yoshi (new)

Yoshi Because of piracy. As far as I know, there were hundreds of people have download the book on some piracy sites but only a very small amount of the book were really sold on lulu. Tionne got upset and decided not to publish in ebook anymore.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Ah okay, thanks.

message 12: by Yoshi (new)

Yoshi Oh, I didn't know about that. Anyway, you should buy it now!
I will also buy a copy because the one I have was in PDF bought at lulu.
*running to amazon*

message 13: by Yoshi (new)

Yoshi Ok, just bought it. It's really the same book I have.

message 14: by Yoshi (new)

Yoshi Say, I think she has posted almost half of the book on her blog by now.

I was contemplating reading it and then someone (Mel?) told me about the grammar issues and I aborted the endeavour. Not sure but I think back then it was free (on the author's blog?)
Is it really THAT bad or should I reconsider?

Horrific. Really bad misuse of grammar, lots of malapropisms, sometimes undecipherable sentence structure. Besides that, for me the story was really almost a parody of everything you could possibly imagine being put into a romance: secret inheritances, the "other woman" who MC #2 ends up marrying and who makes Guntram's life miserable (a la Cinderella), unrevealed ancestral connections, abandoned kid raised in poverty and rescued by abusive older man, Russian mob, family intrigue, kids who the younger MC ends up nannying and who then go missing, jealousy, stupidity, oh just everything. And despite all that I thought most of it was pretty boring and could have been cut. So it's definitely an interesting read. Unlike Yoshi, I would never voluntarily do it again.
