Salva and Nya both live in southern Sudan. Salva's story takes place in 1985, while Nya's story is happening in 2008. Salva is separated from his family when rebels attacked his village so he is on the run. His goal is to find his family. Nya is forced to be at home and she has to walk to gather water everyday.

Salva kind of reminds me of myself because I love my family a lot and if they ever went missing I wouldn't stop looking for them.
The section where Salva is in school reminds me of lockdowns because you have to like get out of the school.
