It's taking a long time to read this book because I know it's not a happy ending and it's rough getting through it. I'm at the part where he escapes and was so excited for about 5 seconds until I remembered what I was reading and knew it wasn't going to last.

Got to the point where he was captured. I knew it was coming and still couldn't handle it. Also made me realize how absurd it is I've never read a book with a similar story line before. I can think of multiple books I've had to read from a white person's perspective about the slave trade but never from the prospective of the kidnapped person. I was rooting for Kunta so hard even though I knew what was going to happen
