Why is this book so problematic? And rapey? Like I get that it’s a great tool to make a character antagonistic and give the audience a reader to hate them, but there’s so much rape! And all of the women are pushovers. And I feel like this book can’t handle it properly because literally in the next ten pages after a woman is raped, she’s off happy and having sex. Wtf.

WOW. Our main female character, upon meeting a man who orchestrated mass rape and murder, is completely smitten and actually says “I didn’t expect him to be so handsome”
I’m sorry what? Does the author actually think women find rapists attractive?! Wtf

Does the author actually believe that you’re not a valid if you don’t want sex?
This girl is raped, and everyone tells her that she should be grateful that she lost her flower. And she’s told that -paraphrasing here - “she should have been happy that a man wanted to rape her” There is no character that believes it’s okay not to want to have sex. Like she even feels guilty that she stopped a guy from raping her

Hmmm... so woman is raped (by her father I might add repeatedly) and shockingly, two pages later, she’s happily having sex with some dude. I’m sorry but WHAT THE FUCK
