It was obvious that there would be a romance going in, but it doesn’t feel right, like it started to abruptly/came out of nowhere. Maybe because it doesn’t feel like time is passing? It’s also kind of strange that Eliza repeatedly mentions her clothing, emphasizing that she looks bad. Being fixated on how bad you look is also a type of caring how you look (which she claims she doesn’t do), I think.
