no wonder Gorz has fallen out of favour and kinda become forgotten by today's leftists even though he predicts some of the ideas currently fashionable - he spends wayyy more page space criticizing traditional left wing economics than he does criticizing either conservative or liberal ideologies

To be honest I get the impression I'd get more insight out of this if I had more familiarity with the economics/sociology jargon this book is VERY heavy on, there's a lot of terms and theories where I think I have a good idea what he means but I'm not 100% sure unless he explains things in terms of nuts-and-bolts examples.

very interesting book, its thesis is that the lot of most working people in industrialized countries now only superficially resembles the diagnosis given by traditional left wing economists - what Gorz describes instead seems to very closely match the "precariate" that 21st century left wing commentators frequently talk about, even though Gorz' terminology is more old fashioned (he wrote this in the 1980s)
