I think that someone suggested this book for library book club! Do you think that it would be something that a group of people could read and discuss? Give me feedback! Love that it is local. Saw you had a Saskatchewan emblem by the call number of book on the nightstand but didn’t know this was what you were working on!! ❤️

I really enjoyed the book. I think it’s very important to know about the history of psychiatry in Saskatchewan. Even as someone who has learned so much about this in school, I was still researching things she was talking about as I read it. On the other hand, though, it might be a difficult read for people who don’t know much about psych hospitals now and how much has changed, how much has stayed the same, how much has advanced, and how much has actually taken steps back (ie - funding). The flow of the book was also a negative for me. The final chapter should have been closer to the beginning because it gave a better overview of that period of time than the entire book together. I would recommend putting it to a vote - see how many people are interested in psych treatment during the 30s-60s. It’s fascinating to have a snapshot of when Saskatchewan was actually considered advanced. Even if the group doesn’t want to read it, you should check it out - just learning about the old LSD tests is reason enough to give this a read.
