Just started on the book.

Introductory chapters have me hooked and am eager to continue reading.

The things I took away from the chapters up to the end of Lichfield were lessons around debt and how it can destroy one. Samuel Johnsons father did actually "make it" by the time Samuel was born, but he overreached in his business ventures and ended up crumpling under the level of debt.
