In the short story "Not A Boy" Cecil likes a girl name Yesterday.His friend thinks Cecil should be with a girl who will just meet them at the date not a girl who expects you to pick them up.Cecil gets to her house with his dad and her parents come to the door.He's scared and nervous trying to say he doesn't need his dad.But he freezes up so his dad came to his rescue.

In the short story "A Thug" A girl name Melody likes her best friends boyfriend.So she rights a letter to a teen magazine to explain w=her situation.The girl that's over it stops her letter from going through.She tells her that she knows a girl that was in the same situation as her and it caused the girl to get beat up and hurt. Finding out that the best friend is sister of the girl over the radio.

In the short story 'hunting for Boys" there are five girls who spend their time in the church.When they find out that there's a carnival they wanna go with boys but pastor doesn't allow that.So they make a plan to go to the basketball courts to see the boys.

In the short story I Know A Dumb Boy When I See One,A girl is pregnant at 16 years old.Her dad wants her to get rid of the baby so he asks her to put it up for adoption.When she goes to the place she meets Wille Greentea. She tricks him into giving her money and jewelry. He "buys" the baby from her.When she has it he gets mad choking her out so at the end you must assume she is dead.

In Jacob's rules Brandon is partners with Marimba which he doesn't like her at all.He refuses to do anything with her because he thinks she's ugly.His other partner is Kenya the girl he d likes.So he continues to be mean to Marimba but nice to Kenya.But Kenya doesn't like him being mean to Marimba.

At the end of "I Like White Boys" Erika finally accepts that johhny doesn't liker and decides to give Chet,a black boy,a chance.But then she sees another white boy walk the hallway and she chases after him.In the new story"Jacob's rules" its a class where they talk about things going on in the men and women life.

At the end of "Don't Be Disrespecting Me" E's friend Noodles gets arrested for robbing Ona's house.Then the new short story called "I Like White Boys".Erika is a young black girl who goes to a private school off of a scholarship.She is the only black girl at her school who likes white boys.

The next story in the book is "Don't Be disrespecting me".In this story "E" is a poor young boy because he has eight brothers and sisters. He meets a girl name Ona who comes from a family with lots of money.She doesn't pick on him like the rest of the kids do.He starts stealing money from her neighborhood.In order to get new clothes and to take her to the dance.

Mookie is the only person in his family that is a boy.So all the females in the family baby him.Once he finally meets a girl that he likes they don't like it.They try to break them up saying he needs to be with someone that family produces boys.Theycame up with a plan to break them up leaving Mookie miserable.
