Apparently, I can't read a book featuring gypsies without thinking of the books Grandma's Attic by Arleta Richardson and Freddy and the Flying Saucer Plans by Walter R. Brooks. :D
The fake gypsy fortune-telling element in Freddy was so wacky and awesome that I died laughing when I was suddenly reminded! Please tell me I'm not the only one who grew up on Freddy!!! That one was one of our favs.

THE END REVEAL MADE ME CRY. WHAT IN THE WORLDDD!!!
I mean crying with actual tears and sobs for a couple minutes as I read, from both joy and sadness. :')
I DID NOT EXPECT THAT IN THIS BOOK. WOW!!
Not only is this book a fun adventure - it is deep and heartfelt and raw, and it took me by total surprise. And after that last event, I'm dying to read it again, knowing what I now know, to appreciate it even more!!

I'm so invested in this book that I'm currently upset and extremely worked-up cause I'm so worried about one of the main characters, both of whom I care about very much. Ahhhh!! D: *bites nails and wrings hands*

My gracious, I'm adoring this delightful book!! Alli, thank you ever so much for the firm pushes to read it! I knew it would be good, but it's amazing--even if it's nothing like I expected. (I'm glad I wasn't spoiled much!)

Just finished Chapter 4, and I'm totally sold on the story now. It was well-written and vivid from the first, and I love the devious, clever main character, but the book won me over gradually at first. And now, I can't wait to find out what happens!!
Also, my library copy is several decades old, and it has that heavenly ink-and-paper smell. <3
