Poetry books are so deceptively small. It feels like you should tear through one over a lunch break. Instead, you read two pages then sit there with a corner of your lip in your teeth, staring off the distance, while your coworkers (once again) wonder why you're so weird.
"Get your hands off my brother", a poem about defending gay men, feels simultaneously period and timely. Pausing at "What I want for Christmas."
