Jenni is an ordinary girl. B average in school, not great in sports. She has a best friend Sara Wilson who is able to do wonders with hair, clothes, and makeup. The school bus is headed to the National Forest, in Boise, Idaho. Classmates: Marco is good in school; Vic is good at soccer, Carrie is in the band. Brandon Thom is the star player in all sports. Todd Blakely & Denny are partners on this trip.

All the students have now fully changed and are managing their newly-found powers. We have a water spirit, fire spirit, air spirit; the ability to fly, with wings; shrinking to the size of a bird! Enormous strength.

This a great imaginative tale! The teenagers and adults develop amazing abilities. Their bodies change to use these abilities. There is danger from the local denizens of this fantasyland, and it takes all their wit, strength and desire to get back home, to survive this unbelievable and dangerous "wonderland".

A little man reveals himself to Jenni. He is friendly and says his name, which is unpronounceable, so he says', "Call me Crank!" She takes him back to camp. He puts a salve on Deanna's wound and shows them how to "ask" the berry plant, to give up its fruit, making it safe to eat! Eating one fruit fills them!

Lake MacElroy is their destination, to collect flora to identify back at school. Armed with a camera they can take pictures of the areas the samples are collected from. Tori Griffin, a shy girl joins Jenni, being her lab partner back at school. As the groups all settle down for lunch, tendrils of mist start appearing around them. The students, suddenly tired, start lying down to nap.

Alisha Hester is Miss Perfect, rich and a snob. Maggie Worth and Lori Parsons are her seatmates and friends. They live in Alisha's shadow, to be somebody. Miss Judy Pap and Roger Kain, 6 feet tall and handsome, are teacher and teacher's aide. Teresa Osorio, Marco's mom is a parent chaperone along with Carrie Minch, heavyset and not properly dressed for hiking...a dress and heels... is Kathy's mom.
