I remember my following the nesting and rearing activities of a sunbird couple as a child. I was very intrusive (touching eggs and newborn chicks) but the birds were really tolerant of me and in the end would let me come as near as 3ft(they had no choice) . This is an old book written in the late 1950s and only describes the birds seen in the author's Delhi house garden while serving as an ambassador. However I'm curious to match them with my experience of growing up in the far South.
