Such a different book from the others. This one is slow, a plod. I enjoyed the first, couldn't wait to get into #2, which was fairly good; this third installment ... hmm. If it'd been the first, I wouldn't've read the trilogy. Also, if this were #1, I doubt DeChancie would've slid it by agent, editor, publisher: it would've been rewritten. By '87 he was a big SF author SF author who could get away with blue murder.
