The romance between <spoiler> Emma and Julain </spoiler> is completely unnecessary. I mean, the forbidden love trope is nothing new to Cassies writing and I to me it would have been WAY MORE interesting if they remained bffs, just good ol' platonic love...

So far it's much better than I initially expected! Compared to Tessa and Clary (who I wasn't particularly fond of) I really like Emma. I'm also obsessed with the Blackthons family dynamic - the breakfast scene with the pancakes?? perfection
