Would you recommend this to somebody who doesn't know a lot of greek mythology and wants to learn or are the retellings too different from the originals? My friend wants to know more but doesn't know where to start and I'm kinda stuck on ideas for it bcus I studied Classics and don't really remember how I know the myths I just do??

Definitely! I'm listening to it on audible which is a dream because Stephen Fry's voice is mythical in itself. It starts from the very very beginning and covers both well-known myths and other tales that I had never even heard of before! Even the myths that I had some knowledge of from our classics modules were a pleasure to listen to and Fry offers even more information on them. It's honestly one of the best books I've read this year and it's a fabulous text those with no prior knowledge of classical mythology and for lovers of the field :D
