The spook has been a useless character since the beginning! Whenever something needs to be done Tom is the one to do it! John(the spook) is always doing something else whether it's being sick, going out of town or getting himself captured by the Quisitor!

Well, I finished the first book and started the second. So far it seems a little cliche, but the story still intrigues me enough to read.
and c'mon Tom! Screw up again! The first story revolved around his mistakes which made it interesting. So far it's a lot more to do with the Spook than it had in the first book portion.
