I'm not sure why I'm putting this here, but this morning our dog died. He was like a child to us. We adopted him from a shelter in Seattle and he traveled across continents with us all the way to South America, where we now reside.
This morning we went for a walk, he had a seizure, and then he was gone. He was 14. His name was Cooper and he was the sweetest boy I've ever known. I will miss him forever.

Thank you, Arien. I'm still in shock. I cried a bunch at the emergency clinic, a little more at home, but I'm just walking around in a daze right now noticing all of his things as I wander through our apartment. My partner is better in a crisis than I am, so she's been handling all the details while I've been falling apart, but she's due for collapse any moment now, too.It helps typing it out, though. It maybe makes it more real? I don't know. I do know that I appreciate the condolences, and I hope you get many more quality years with your boy.

Can't imagine what you are going through. I have always had the opportunity to decide when it was time for my fur babies to pass on. Having it be so unexpected sounds excruciating. Take your time to feel and grieve. But also remember the wonderful life you gave your baby. Sending love your way.
I dread the day when our dog will go. He's 12 now.
