Just finished a chapter on MLK’s relationship with music, which necessarily brought in the black/slave communities’ relationships with music.

I love the depth of insight and richness within those communities. Negro spirituals are so powerful b/c they combine the experience of deep suffering with great hope, specifically in freedom in Jesus (on earth and heaven).

There’s a 30 page long chapter in this book all about MLK’s eating habits.

At the end, all I could think about was food.
