Randall Munroe mentions his old job at NASA at the beginning of the book, which seems random at the time, until he answers the question about a mole of moles (A mole is a certain humongous number). This question tackles if a mole of moles suddenly appeared in space, which ends horribly, of course.

This reminds me of Randall’s other book, xkcd: volume 0, which was a simplified version of this, full of comics from his web series of the same name, xkcd. This also reminds me of a channel I used to watch where they actually did crazy experiments like flamethrower gloves and gun jetpacks.

The characterization of Randall Munroe is indirect and subtle. From reading him talk about and answering these questions, you learn that he is curious and bright. He is very interested in science and unique and confusing ideas that people ask him, such as “Could you use machine guns as a jet pack with enough power?” and other absurd questions.

I think that there is no antagonist. The reason why is that this book is a book about questions being answered by Randall Munroe. The protagonist, science, has nothing against it. An example of a question was, “Could you create a working jetpack out of machine guns?” The simplified answer? Yes.

This book doesn’t have a protagonist because it’s a book about weird questions that the author answers with complicated science.

I think that the next questions will get weirder and weirder, as every time that Munroe answers these absurd questions, the questions get weirder.

I think that the next questions asked will be very strange, even stranger than the last. I think this because as Mr. Munroe answers the questions, they constantly get stranger and stranger.

Randall talked about what would happen if you tried to collect al, the elements together is square forms. In short, you would die. But a lot of people collect the harmless elements for fun. They are usually put in display shelves hung up somewhere on a wall.
