Cringe. 'The Ivans (Russians/Soviets) ruined our Christmas by shelling us.' The words of the author, the central character. Throughout this read, his Germanic pride has shown forth and though not a great fan of Hitler or National Socialism, he forgets that it is Germany who has invaded foreign lands. This book is going downhill, not a patch on 'D Day, as seen through the eyes of a German.'
