For to whom should men consecrate themselves, with a view to eternal life, save to felicity alone, if felicity were a goddess? But felicity is not a goddess, but the gift of God. To what God then should we consecrate ourselves except to the giver of felicity, if we fix our devout affection on eternal life, where there is the true fulfilment of felicity? (p252)
