guestimating a bit on page numbers, as i have the e-boxs set and amazon's only listing their proprietary locations. anyway, so far i'm intrigued. it's a definite mishmash pastiche homage to tom clancy, vince flynn, brad thor, dale brown, WEB griffin, harold coyle, robert ludlum... even some john le carre thrown in too. it's fast-paced with shadow government intrigue and historical tie-ins, so i'm happy so far...

this reads the way a supposed comeback MOW starring steven seagal, jean claude van damme or wesley snipes is filmed - poorly. it's just so over the top in spots, unruly in others and vapid in the spaces between. i thought a monthlong break from it would help, but... no. even with the russians, the chinese, a shadow US gov't, massive techno fail hurtling us toward mayhem... just no.
