I’d forgotten how entertaining this first novel is despite the excessive Tolkien theft: the Trolloc origins (read: orcs), the [secretly royal] ranger character (warden), the halfmen (Ringwraiths) riding big, evil bats and being terrified of deep water????? C’mon, bro. Steal and *conceal*! Nevertheless, rereading for the sake of genre literacy.
