Awe. 1st exercise: Draw someone while talking to them. Extract interesting shapes. Design a letter using the shapes. Make an alphabet using this letter. (In my mind they were asking to ‘make up’ a new alphabet . . . Alas no. John Ashbery asked his students to ‘translate’ Egyptian Hieroglyphs into poems . . . The line takes a walk ; -l).
