It's been years since I read a Vorkosigan book. Maybe it was changing a previous character's sexuality, which felt forced. as if it were an attempt to appeal to a new generation of readers discovering this arching storyline of books. I'm never against a good retcon, but it should have some sort of natural flow. Jarring episodes that don't make sense feel like an abuse of trust (i.e., the ending of St. Elsewhere).
