Ok so there is also an attentional switch and attentional filter... maybe these are what becomes engaged for meditation

Fascinating. The author has a way of relating complex cognitive systems in a way that you don’t need to be a neuroscientist to understand.
Right now I am early in and the chapter is talking about executive fiction and the daydreaming state. I wonder if and when he will get around to meditation.

Humans seem biologically predisposed to certain types of bias and it is not as possible to over-write false information as we may hope. For example, negative and destructive rumours or gossip can leave an indelible impression even when facts provide evidence of the opposite.
