This book is really beginner-friendly, The essays and translation commentaries are also great.
I flipped through other books on Genesis, but found them way too technical for me to get through. I don’t need a catalogue of all the geological theories on earth formation to gage how justifiable the Genesis account is (looking at you, Keil and Delitzsch), and I get intimidated by texts that assume I know Hebrew.

The Iliad has its catalogue of ships, the Genesis ... a catalogue of “sired”.
I did manage to catch many of the “plot holes” in the Cain episode before our translator intrudes with commentaries!
