Great book, as is Slow Getting Up. Nate is a funny, truthful, insightful writer about football. He captures what it's like to be a player and the toll the game takes on the body and the psyche. His view of the fans and the NFL journalist echo chamber feature in this book. So many sports books fail to transport the reader to a place where they can feel it. Nate does this about as well as anybody, a la Jim Bouton.
