This is turning into a painful read. Sentence fragments can be found in every 1 out of five lines or less. The same can be said of sentences which begin with "and" or "but". The exact same 100 words from the first chapter had been repeated three times by 6% into the story. This appears to be for padding the word count, and it really destroys the flow and immersion.
