On the night of 10 June (1905) Serbian military leaders broke into the royal palace at Belgrade and murdered King Alexander and Queen Draga, as well as several ministers, army officers and other who had been loyal to them. The King and Queen, who had been deeply unpopular with their subjects, were butchered in a particularly revolting manner, their mutilated bodies thrown on to the palace lawn below...
