Not being much of a historian I didn't expect to engage with this book, but I've been very pleasantly surprised. I am not particularly religious, either, and I was aware that much of Bach's music was written for the church. The book has brought Bach to life, which I am sure will help me to bring his music to life. He was a brilliant man and the book charts his life on both a personal and a professional level.
