These setting and character traits are displayed and hidden within the words of the book. It's basically what everyone learned when they were younger, show not tell. The characters may not say their feelings or setting, but if you closely pay attention, it isn't hard to find the hidden settings and traits that are perfectly put into this set of books. I say well done Ally Condie!

I have noticed that many people have said that they dislike The Matched series because it's hard to follow and confusing. At first I didn't understand why they didn't understand the setting or character traits, but then I realized that there is a reason they found this series confusing. These books aren't confusing at all if you understand the way they are written...
