Just like great poets need great audiences, a book is only as good as you make it. It takes time, effort, reflection, and reading additional books to build a proper context in your head and truly appreciate what you're reading. Don't just skim through hundreds of books looking for something that confirms your worldview. Reading is supposed to be a challenge. Put your prejudices aside and dive into the unknown.
