I think that my book may be overcoming the monster. I know this because she has something that haunts her from her past, and it continues to affect and impact her in drastic ways throughout the book. The reason that it is overcoming the monster is because I think that in the end she will finally be able to face this trauma, but to do that, she has to make a sacrifice by giving up her silence and speaking again.

I can connect Silence to another book I have read, Anne of Green Gables. I can make this connection because in my book and in this book, the main protagonist is ignored and bullied, most of this unfair behavior stemming from the character’s troubled past. And although the situations in the books are very different, the main characters have to undergo many of the same hardships and perilous situations.
