I think that the Hunger Games is a mix between The Quest and Overcoming The Monster. Going to the games is close to the quest, attempting to survive and win a nice life in the Victor’s Village. It is also Overcoming The Monster because Peeta and Katniss have to force the evil president to allow both of them to live. They accomplish this by pretending they are in love and make the Capitol adjust the rules.

As of what I’ve read so far, this book reminds me of another short story that I read. I don’t remember what it was called, but it was about a community where each year, everyone gets a card. There a one card with a black dot, and whoever gets it must be killed painfully by the other civilians using rocks. This reminds me of the hunger games because it takes away many people and there is only one survivor.
