Computer One is a worldwide collection of computers on planet Earth on which all knowledge is kept and dished-out in the early 2000s. Book penned in the 1990s, before Google. Computer One also controls all manufacturing, mining, molding, everything. The author assumes an impossible world where all governments agree to work together. Book is printed in an odd, like 'grade school' font.

Got a little silly about computer viruses and 'ghosts' in the machine, but this was written 26 years ago when the average reader knew nothing about computers. I approve of the ending though.

As the protagonist Professor Yakuda predicted, (the year 2020), 'Computer One' became self-aware and decided that since humans could turn him (or her) off began murdering mankind. In a testing mode, it introduced deadly viruses to remote communities to see how well it killed them. This is not an 'action' book, a lot of the book is simply talking about stuff, but it's still pretty good.

Not much, or any action until around page 120. It's just been pages and pages of the protagonist Ph.D. relating his entomology theories about bee and ant behavior to the 'Computer One' network that, pretty much, controls all life in the 1st World in the 2020s. The violence begins when Computer One uses a solar-gathering mirror array to flash fry a couple of Ph.D.s.
