Hey guys, interesting topic I thought of when reading a friend of mine's review. How many volumes (or issues if don't read trades) do you give a comic if you don't right away love it?
For me it's usually 2, 3 if it's good but not great but not getting better. Would love to see some answers! =-D

It depends. I have a problem to put something down, and I have problem reading by issue (hate the waiting) so I'm targeting by books. Even if it's really shitty, I at least finish that book. With higher qualities it's complicated. But the general rule is if I like the story, I'll give a second chance. So it must be two bad consequential volumes to drop the series entirely.

I try to give any book at least 3-4 issues. The first one can sometimes suffer from too many cooks if an editor or goes nuts on it. By 2 it's usually leveling out, but by 3 or 4 you have a more solid idea of the author's intentions and what the characters really are. If it's not working for me by then I'll usually walk away.
