Pearcy seems to fail to realize that her own worldview significantly shapes her understanding of what a worldview is. That's already getting her in trouble...

Hey, I finally reached chapters that didn't make me sputter with frustration! This is a great relief after chapter 7 made me decide the book wasn't worth the paper it was written on. (Have to read it anyway for a certification I'm working on.)

Urgh!...
I am fairly certain Pearcy is criticizing Albee's play having never seen it. Or if she has, she completely missed the point. I would not recommend said play to most people, but regardless, her offense is misplaced and potentially blinding her.

On the one hand, Pearcy keeps assuming that everyone has one, coherent worldview & that singular view determines all aspects of one's life. At one point, she also implies that a Xian does not believe until he has formulated an full Xian worldview, a terribly binding idea. On the other hand, she provides some good questions re: evolutionary biologists' methodology and philosophy. Wish she'd entertain both sides, tho..

This book has value, but Pearcy continues to make various problematic assumptions. Here's a few:
1) everyone possesses a single, coherent worldview
2) everyone's worldview will eventually lead to its logical end despite illogical thinking
3) human beings are driven primarily by analytical thought processes
4) the primary catalyst for worldview change is intellectual confrontation
All questionable.
