The writing so far is fabulous. Oddly reminds me of Derek Landy's style, an easy flow, quick paced. There's a lovely amount of imagery so far and the prose is comfortable.

The beauty of this book really does lie in the overheard conversations between the patients and their doctors, nurses, and family, and the narrator's thoughts about them. Notwithstanding the odd rare occasion, Basso excels at crafting vivid personalities without the narrator having a conversation with other characters or, at times, without ever seeing them.
