I'm at the most exciting part of the book: "Object Relations Theory in Clinical Practise." Not really. Enjoyed the chapter on Antisocial/Narcissistic pd. Kernberg claims they can feel guilt. They just won't admit the truth, and will never admit to their wrongdoing. According to Stanton Samenow Ph.D., narcissists/antisocials (psychopaths) are very similar, but we call then antisocial only when they get caught!

The account of the narcissistic mathematician was interesting; this was from the chapter I just finished, "Object Relations Theory Applied." Kernberg ascertained that the patient's greediness and fear of exploitation by the psychoanalyst was the result of a mother who was constantly warning him that women would exploit him (which also accounted for his inability to connect sexually to women).

Just finished "Psychopathology of Hatred." Pretty heady stuff, Kernberg isn't messing around. Next chapter: "Clinical Dimensions of Masochism." Can't wait.
